The Rose Cottage was formally a traditional Sussex country pub circa 1680's, sadly no longer trading, set in the picturesque cul-de-sac village of Alciston, in the heart of the Southdowns Nation Park, accessed by a country lane of off the A27, between the villages of Selmeston and Berwick, the Old Coach road that surrounds the village are ideal for walking, the beautiful villages of Alfriston and Firle are equidistant and offer the opportunity for great walks through these villages and the unspoilt countryside that surround them.
Glyndebourne Opera House is approximately 4 miles distant, Charleston Manor, the home of the “Bloomsbury Set” is situated 3 miles away, Michelham Priory, reputed to be the most haunted building in England is situated close by in the village of Arlington (4 Miles)
The Barley Mow and The Cricketers public houses lie a within ¾ mile of The Rose Cottage, both serving excellent food, there are numerous other pubs and restaurants close by, offering food for the more discerning palate.
All of our accommodation lies within the curtilage of the Rose Cottage, all rooms are self-contained and are fitted with double beds, rates are based on two person occupancy, we do not discount for single occupancy
Within our grounds we have two superb self catering apartments "Beacon View" is situated on the ground floor, to the rear of the garage building at the top of our car park, the accommodation is accessed by French doors from your own decked area, which enjoys uninterrupted views over the beautiful countryside to Firle Beacon.
Accommodation comprises of Double Bedroom with en Suite facilities,(shower over bath) separate with open plan kitchen diner, TV, there is a extra bed available for third guest if required (single).
Dog Friendly, bring pooches bed and food as we do not supply.
These apartments are also available on a room only basis for those guests that wish to have breakfast
"Hikers Rest", is our Budget accommodation, a detached wooden cabin situated next to the pub, suitable for short stay Hikers, double bedroom with en-suite shower, TV, small scale catering, (2 hob electric stove, microwave, fridge, Full English breakfast available upon request at £10 per person per night optional).
" The Loft", is accessed on the other side of garage block, situated on the first floor, via the wooden staircase, open plan Kitchen/Lounge, separate en-suite shower room and facilities, separate double bedroom, there is a extra bed available for third guest if required (single).
Our superior room "the Parlour Room, is situated on the ground floor of the pub, available on Room only Basis, no self-catering, breakfast optional, the room comprises of King Size bed, en-suite shower room, 32in TV, there is a 4ft 6in sofa in the room which, when pulled out will accommodate 2 adults or 2 children if required.
Please note, we do not allow dogs in this room. There are Tea and Coffee making facilities in all our rooms.
