Our History

The original inn (The Half Moon) was at Bo-Peep to the south of Alciston until around 1860 when it closed and the Southdown & East Grinstead brewery bought Rose Cottage a 17th century flint cottage with oak beams, crooked walls and ceilings, and turned it into the village inn.

Comprised of three public rooms three with tables and chairs as dining areas and one as a bar area, the whole has a very relaxed, cottage’y feel with small well-furnished front garden with views toward the Downs.

In the winter months we have real log fires.
